Grady Harp, July 21 I am a current subscriber of Lingo Mastery Plus (previously known as Storyling), a platform for learning Spanish, and by chance I had the opportunity in receiving this Arabic Story book for free in PDF format, asking for comments for this title before the real launch.To be honest, I am an absolute novice of Arabic, and I had no ideas as to how to make comments on this book. I could only comment on its layout and English typos, if any.It seems to me that Lingo Mastery is devoted in helping people to learn foreign languages and they really fulfill this mission in improving the quality of the book before the real launch.I decided to purchase this book the next day right after the official release, hoping that I can use it as a reference material in learning Arabic albeit I can read and write more than 10 languages, and Arabic is my next pursuit.As compared with the initial PDF format I got, this book did fix some issues pertaining to adding the diacritics (vowel symbols) which are added above or below the letters to achieve the vowel sounds. Arabic is usually written without these symbols, but it is beneficial to learn them, especially for the beginners. I also found that the vocabuary section is expanded by adding more key words, suggesting Lingo Mastery did honour the feedback from the readers, and is trying to produce quality products at a reasonable cost.This book is written in Modern Standard Arabic that caters for all learners of Arabic albeit different Arabic countries have their own dialects. Modern Standard Arabic is the standardized, literary Arabic that is used in print and mass media, such as TV and radio broadcast.The layout of this book is encouraging. Apart from the main content of the story in Arabic, it has both Arabic and English summaries which facilitate a better understanding of each story. At the end of each summary, a list of the most relevant vocabuary included in the story is provided. After this, a set of questions is provided to test one's comprehension of the story by answering a few questions with simple answers. The model answers can be found at the end of each story.However, I would suggest adding a brief section on alphabet writing systems and pronunciation guides for an absolute beginner. It would be an added value if some key notes on basic grammar for each story can be added in the Appendix at the end of the book.I am more than happy to see if the vocabuary section to be placed just before the story rather than at the end of each story. From the beginner's point of view, learning the vocabuary upfront would make it more fun to read, instead of having frustration to see there are so many unknown words that hinder us from reading any further, especially for the beginners.Meanwhile, I am awaiting its audio version on Audible, such that it would leverage my Arabic to the next level and beyond.
